Mr. Wilder is general counsel and secretary for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC. He joined Ashland Petroleum Company, a division of Ashland Inc., in 1978 and was appointed to his current position in November 1997 during the formation of the Marathon Ashland Petroleum joint venture (MAP).

Prior to his current role, Mr. Wilder was vice president and general counsel for SuperAmerica Group, Ashland Petroleum Company's retail convenience store operating company, then headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. At various times during his eight years with SuperAmerica Group, his responsibilities included real estate, design and construction, environmental, health and safety, and marketing. He also served as regional vice president for SuperAmerica's Northwest region in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1995.

Mr. Wilder was named vice president and general counsel for SuperAmerica Group in 1988. He transferred to Valvoline Oil Company, a division of Ashland Inc. in Lexington in 1986 as senior attorney. In 1984 he was appointed a senior attorney for Ashland Petroleum Company. He joined Ashland as a staff attorney in Russell, Kentucky, in August 1978.

Mr. Wilder received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky, Kentucky, in 1975 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1978.

He attended the Ashland Oil, Inc. executive development program at Indiana University, Indiana, in 1990 and the program for management development at Harvard University, Massachusetts, in 1995.

Mr. Wilder has served as secretary-treasurer and president of The Findlay/Hancock County Bar Association. He currently serves as chairman of the Owens Community College Foundation board of directors.

He and his wife have a son and a daughter.
