Michael A. Peak
Mr. Peak is vice president of Risk Management & Trading for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC. He joined Marathon Ashland Petroleum Company LLC* in this position in August 2003. He previously worked for Marathon between 1976 and 1989.
In 2001, Mr. Peak joined Sempra Energy where he served as a commodities trader. He left Marathon in 1989 to join Phibro Inc. as an oil trader.
In 1987, Mr. Peak was named manager of crude oil supply for Marathon Oil Company. He transferred to Houston, Texas, in 1983 to work in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) trading group and in the Gulf Coast pipeline department. Between 1976 and 1983, he held various positions in the planning and marketing groups including assistant to the president of corporate planning. Mr. Peak began his career with Marathon in 1976 as an analyst in the operations research department.
A native of Cleves, Ohio, he graduated from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1976. In 1979, he received a master's degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University, Ohio.
He is president of worship2action, an organization that strives to raise awareness of poverty issues and call people to action. Mr. Peak is actively involved in many relief and development projects in Rwanda. He is also involved with St. Patrick's Foundation in Jamaica and the International Justice Mission.
Mr. Peak is married and has three sons.
