Artesia, New Mexico

Marathon's major production area is located in the Indian Basin in southeastern New Mexico.

Named after artesian wells in the area, Artesia has a flourishing oil and gas industry along with farming, ranching, dairies, small businesses and is the location of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

Nestled in the Pecos Valley, Artesia's 14,000 residents enjoy clean air and a great quality of life. The Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center offers a variety of art and historical exhibits. Sports enthusiasts enjoy baseball, soccer, football, volleyball, tennis, golf, racquetball courts, and running/walking at Jaycee Park, one of eight local parks. Fishing, water skiing, boating and sailing are available at Brantley State Park, just 17 miles to the south.

Artesia is located within easy driving distance to many scenic tourist attractions that contribute to New Mexico's title, the "Land of Enchantment." Cities within easy driving access include Carlsbad and Roswell, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas.
