INROADS

Marathon and INROADS have partnered since 1991 to develop talented minority youth to prepare them for corporate leadership. INROADS is a nonprofit organization that recruits the best and the brightest ethnically diverse students. After initial training and development, INROADS places qualified college students in two- to four-year summer internships with participating corporate sponsors such as Marathon and provides ongoing support and guidance to ensure their success

The Program

INROADS interns receive paid, multi-year, real world professional experiences, with early exposure to their career interest, networking opportunities, and year-round personal, professional, and academic guidance and support. At Marathon, INROADS college internships combine several summers of work experience along with year-round academic instruction and training and guidance from INROADS counselors.

INROADS' rigorous career development training process challenges students to commit to excellence and raises the bar on their personal expectations. It requires students to make a serious commitment to participate in and complete specific job readiness and leadership requirements, while maintaining a B or better academic grade point average.  For Marathon, INROADS provides early identification of talent and increased diversity. Many INROADS interns receive offers for full time employment after graduation.

In addition to a paid multi-year internship, the benefits of INROADS include the following:

  • Direct and immediate access to the corporate world
  • Year-round professional and personal support, guidance, training and development
  • Corporate mentors who take a personal interest in you
  • Additional scholarship opportunities through corporate sponsors and INROADS offices
  • Unparalleled networking opportunities
  • Great potential for a full-time career after graduation

Eligibility

Marathon seeks high performing African American, Hispanic/Latino and Native American students for INROADS internship opportunities who are interested in pursuing careers in business, geoscience, engineering, health and safety, and computer and information sciences, and who are motivated to succeed. The student must maintain a B or better grade point average, and remain committed to the INROADS mission and goal.
