Environment & Safety Co-Op & Intern

RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental: Assist company professionals in implementing various Responsible Care® environmental planning, permitting and compliance activities pertaining to the protection of air, water and soil resources. Duties may include: facility audits; air emission surveys; water sampling; permit compliance analysis and reporting; permit application preparation and submittal; waste stream analysis and management; waste minimization projects; environmental remediation activities; and wildlife habitat planning.

Health and Safety: Assist company professionals in implementing various Responsible Care® safety planning and compliance activities pertaining to the protection of human health and safety. Duties may include: facility audits; employee training programs; industrial hygiene; safety equipment maintenance; incident investigations; and other health and safety related projects. Reports will be written and submitted for some safety projects. Students may have the opportunity to participate in various safety programs, while working on committees to address specific safety issues. Opportunities are also available for students to receive training in various safety subject areas. In many cases, students will also gain exposure to various environmental activities. Students who return in following semesters will build on the skills gained in prior work sessions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Desired Majors: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection & Safety, Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil), Earth and Environmental Sciences and related fields of study. 
• Hiring Locations: Findlay, Ohio; Robinson, Illinois; Garyville, Louisiana; Texas City, Texas; Detroit, Michigan; Catlettsburg, Kentucky; St. Paul Park, Minnesota; Canton, Ohio; Martinsville, Illinois; Houston, Texas; and other possible locations.
• Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
• Positions are available summer, fall and spring semesters.
