Human ResourcesRESPONSIBILITIESGeneralist: An initial assignment will involve periods of orientation and training, project-oriented assignments for Human Resources (HR) staff or specialist functions, and temporary assignments at operating locations. Areas of responsibilities may include performance consulting on organizational/personnel issues and team participation, development and support. At our limited number of union represented locations, generalists are involved in grievance and arbitration investigation and preparation, labor contract administration, and contract negotiations. At our non-represented locations, generalists are involved in creating and maintaining programs that will meet both the Company’s and employees’ needs in a manner that will allow us to continue to operate with the absence of union representation. HR generalists assess training needs, assist with organizational design and present training programs, including management skills and team-based training. In addition, HR generalists promote and foster diversity in the workplace. Administration of Company-wide policies, such as the Corporate Drug and Alcohol Policy, and local policies, such as absence control programs, work rules and benefit programs will be part of the responsibility of our new HR professionals. Generalists may also be involved with professional and technical recruiting, including college recruiting and campus relations for entry level positions, and experienced recruiting through ads, agencies, etc. as necessary. Our HR generalists will also identify, plan and document methods and processes to assist HR or functional managers in the administration of employment and labor relations laws and regulations, Company policies, programs and plans as well as research and develop special projects and recommend actions based on findings and available funding. As Marathon Petroleum Company LLC is a subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corporation opportunities may be available within the parent company.
Summer internships are available. Specific responsibilities may vary based on location; however, interns can expect to be involved in assisting in some of the following HR functions: exempt and nonexempt hiring and employment practices; grievance research and preparation at union represented locations; research and development of employee relations programs; and special projects involving various functions in the HR field.
