RESPONSIBILITIES

Basic skill in the use of programming languages and system design; maintain a working knowledge of the languages in use at any given time and maintain a good level of proficiency in other aspects of programming appropriate to the computer platforms being used.

Test, modify, analyze and implement programs/systems; includes in-house developed or purchased applications.

Understand and apply appropriate system development methodologies to ensure a timely and cost-effective solution.

Able to contribute and assist in assignments in a team environment, taking directions and supervision from others when appropriate; develop the interpersonal skills needed to function effectively as a member of a project team and effectively interface with Business clients.

Develop an understanding of the various standards, policies, guidelines, development and functional tools, and utilize them to enhance the quality and ensure compliance of the applications under development or maintenance/support.

Develop a working knowledge in other technical areas that are relevant to arriving at the appropriate solution to meeting the Business client’s requirements, including but not limited to, local and wide area networks, Intranet and Extranet, client-server computing, operating systems, hardware platforms, communication protocols, etc.

Understand the security requirements of the application and the Business client area; determine whether or not security can be provided, and learn the mechanics of implementing the security method chosen.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desired majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems and Computer Information Systems.
  • Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
