Project Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

This entry level position offers a variety of challenges to professionals holding a degree in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering. Project engineers for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC (MPC) are responsible for managing several diverse projects at any given time. These range from new million-dollar-plus developments to remodeling and maintenance projects. The three major areas in which these projects lie are: gasoline service stations and convenience stores; petroleum product storage and terminal facilities; and petroleum crude oil and refined products pipelines.

Daily job activities involve all aspects of project development and management. Tasks include scope definition, design, obtaining permits, interfacing with government officials, project cost estimating, evaluating and summarizing bid sets and construction supervision. Engineers may also be called upon to provide technical support to the operating components of MPC.

Communication skills are very important in interfacing with internal business partners, contractors and regulatory agencies. Project engineers will be trained to handle a wide variety of tasks and assume significant responsibility. The work is in the Marketing and Transportation Engineering (M&TE) organization which offers a variety of assignments, immediate placement on projects, significant involvement with the corporate business units and unmatched opportunities to advance based on performance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desired majors: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
  • Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
