Marathon's exploration activities focus on adding profitable production to existing core areas - the United States, Equatorial Guinea, Norway, Libya, Angola and the North Sea - and developing a potential new core area in Indonesia. Ever mindful of operational excellence, Marathon draws upon leading-edge technology and commercial skills to realize the full potential of its upstream assets.

Marathon's production operations supply crude oil and natural gas to meet growing world energy demand. With resources in seven countries, worldwide production operations are currently focused in the United States, Africa and Europe. Marathon's geographic footprint was expanded to include ownership interests in Canadian oil sands leases that are under study for possible development using in-situ methods of extraction.
