ColoradoMarathon's leasehold position in the Piceance Basin of Colorado, includes approximately 8,700 net acres, with net recoverable resources estimated to be more than 900 billion cubic feet (bcf). The acreage, located in Garfield County in the Greater Grand Valley Field Complex, is flanked by, and on-trend with, adjacent production. The Piceance Basin is currently one of the most active basins in North America. The primary reservoir is the Williams Fork Formation of the Mesaverde Group, which is characterized as a massive 3,000-foot thick sequence of stacked over-pressured channel sands in a continuous gas accumulation. The target reservoir is encountered at measured depths of 6,500 to 8,500 feet. Marathon anticipates drilling approximately 700 wells over the next 10 years. This program has the potential to add nearly 160 to 180 million cubic feet per day of gas production by 2014. First production is expected in late 2007. Download
