OklahomaMarathon has been actively involved in exploration and production in Oklahoma for more than 70 years. The Company has well-established production in the Anadarko Basin from operations including the Cement, Knox and Ammunition fields. Targeting deep gas reserves, Marathon had discoveries in the Marlow Field in Stephens County, Cement Field in Caddo County and the Elk City area in Beckham County. Additionally, in 2006 and early 2007, Marathon's exploration program resulted in three new discoveries in the Rocky area of Washita and Beckham counties. Marathon acquired more than 25,000 net undeveloped acres in key strategic exploration projects. In 2007, 26 to 30 gross (12 net) exploration wells focused in the Deep Anadarko Basin are planned, with participation in more than 50 development wells throughout the state. Drilling activity will continue to be focused in the Deep Anadarko Basin, targeting multiple pay objectives defined by 3-D seismic technology. |
