Oklahoma

Marathon has been actively involved in exploration and production in Oklahoma for more than 70 years. The Company has well-established production in the Anadarko Basin from operations
including the Cement, Huntley, Rocky, Knox, Elk City and Ammunition fields.

Targeting deep gas reserves, Marathon has discoveries in the Rocky Field in Wachita County, Huntley and Cement fields in Caddo County, Marlow Field in Stephens County and the Elk City
area in Beckham County. In 2008, Marathon acquired more than 23,000 net undeveloped acres in key strategic exploration projects along the Wichita Mt. Front and the Deep Anadarko Basin.

In 2008, Marathon's exploration program resulted in six new discoveries in the Deep Anadarko Basin. These discoveries currently contribute approximately 20 mmcfd net sales and expose Marathon to approximately 18 mmboe of net discovered risked resource.

The Company currently holds a 30,000 acreage position in the core of the emerging Woodford Shale play in the Anadarko Basin. In 2008, 27 gross (10 net) exploration and appraisal wells focused in the Deep Anadarko Basin and Woodford play were drilled and completed, with participation in more than 25 development wells throughout the state. In 2008, the Company completed the Cana No. 1-15H discovery well in the Woodford play in Canadian County. The well flowed at an initial rate of 5.2 mmcfd. Drilling activity will focus on the Woodford Shale play in 2009 with continued activity in the Deep Anadarko Basin, targeting multiple pay objectives defined by 3-D seismic technology.
