Special Products Marketing

Marathon is a producer and marketer of various petrochemicals and special products such as aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic solvents, base oils, slack wax, aromatic oils and extracts, petroleum pitch and dilute naphthalene oil, propylene, molten sulfur and propane.

Propane and sulfur are produced and sold at all seven Marathon refineries. Propylene, ranging in purity from refinery grade to polymer grade, is produced and sold at all refineries except Canton. The Catlettsburg refinery produces cumene, toluene, xylene, aliphatic solvents, base oils, slack wax, aromatic extracts, petroleum pitch and dilute naphthalene oil. The Texas City refinery produces benzene, toluene and xylene. Propane and sulfur are produced and sold at all seven refineries. Products are shipped via pipeline, barge, rail and truck from refineries or terminals to customers throughout the U.S.
