we work with care
Committed to OpportunityJennifer Bracey joined Marathon in 1990. She has worked in health, environment and safety roles in Aberdeen, Scotland; Houston, Texas; and at Marathon's Garyville, Louisiana and Texas City, Texas, refineries. Bracey was recently appointed operations manager for the United States Production Operations (USPO) oil asset team. "When I joined Marathon, one of the first things I heard was how important our reputation as an honest, ethical company was to us," Bracey said. "I've seen that demonstrated at all levels of our business and believe that doing the right thing remains one of our most important assets." "I am now responsible for Marathon's operations in the Rockies, the Permian Basin and the Gulf of Mexico. It is a challenging and interesting role. I work on reliability, process safety management and environmental and safety issues. Marathon already has many good programs in place in these areas. I am able to apply my upstream and downstream experience while working closely with the field operations to develop plans for continued performance improvement. "While at our Texas City refinery, I worked with the operating groups to implement changes that have lead to improvements in our environmental and safety performance. After formalizing our existing environmental processes under the Responsible Care Management System ®, we reduced designated environmental incidents by over 50 percent in two years. We also focused on behavior-based safety observations and programs that drive responsibility for safety to an individual level." "Marathon is a very good company to work for. When I first came out of college, I never thought I would have opportunities to work in our upstream and downstream business; in the United Kingdom; and now as an operations manager." Marathon is a company where, if you stay open and flexible to different opportunities, you can have some really good things come along." |
