WE WORK WITH CARE

Doing Business the Right Way
When Daniele Gustin began working for Marathon as a contract graphic designer in October 1997, she never envisioned a career promoting ethics and integrity in the workplace. More than a dozen years later, that's just what she does as an advanced business integrity representative with the Company's Business Integrity (BI) Office.
"The last five or six years of my graphic design career, I worked closely with Business Integrity, putting together training programs and working on employee communications," said Gustin, who has been in her current position since January 2008. "In the process of producing the training, I began to have a real passion for the subject, so I was thrilled to be offered a full-time position in the BI Office. It felt like a natural transition."
The Business Integrity Office was created in February 2001 and is responsible for developing and implementing the ethics programs for Marathon Oil Company, Marathon Petroleum Company and Speedway SuperAmerica.
From her office in Findlay, Ohio, Gustin's normal day might involve producing training programs, given ethics presentations to employees and following up on a call to the Company's Integrity Helpline. "My job is made easier because of Marathon's long tradition of integrity," Gustin said. "There's an underlying culture of honesty and respect that exists at this Company."
Gustin also spends time in the field promoting the Business Integrity Office. "We want to let employees know we're available to them," she said. "I'm proud Marathon has a group like this, and I feel privileged to be a part of it."
