Education and Training
Marathon provides programs and learning opportunities to develop skilled, competitive workforces in the communities in which we operate. Specific projects are determined on a case-by-case basis. Examples of community education projects include:
- Marathon's on-going education of our National Workforce in Equatorial Guinea, through a program developed by the Accounting Department of Marathon EG Production.
- Support of the Engineering Explorers program, which provides high school students education and training opportunities centered on engineering and technology careers.
- Participation in the Highway Watch Program, a security program that is building a network of "security guards" throughout the United States.
- Marathon's committment to the development of local talent through internship programs and two scholarship programs in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. These programs sponsor top high school students to continue their education at Texas A&M University and the University of South Carolina, allowing students from these two nations to pursue academic careers at world renowned American universities.
- Corporate support of host-country education programs and facilities: The Company works with colleges in local communities where we operate. Marathon technical staff worked with a Texas college to develop an educational training curriculum.
