Environmental Stewardship

Environmental stewardship is the ability of a company or entity to establish and maintain high standards of health, environmental and safety performance as part of its business process. Marathon supports various nature conservation programs that are important to host communities and their sustainability. Some examples of these programs include:

  • A National Park Program project that was established to protect large expanses of the Gabonese rainforest.
  • A pipeline right-of-way revegetation program instituted by Marathon in the United States and Gabon.
  • More than 1,400 acres of Marathon wooded areas, grassland, cropland, lakes and wetlands being transformed by employees into habitat certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC).
